The Combat Jack Show has provided the best interviews in hip hop EVER. Like in all of history, including writing lol... Thats what I listen for. To hell with some "fukkery"
Nah man i have to disagree. Combat goes with the standard what was that like and how did you feel. I feel like Rap Radar does more research and Juan ep know more about the cats they interview for the most part.

Yeah I guess we'll agree to disagree.

Combat definitely isn't a super hip hop head, but he does a great job of tying hip hop to the larger picture which I think is way more important. Like Chuck D describing how the hood changed in the pre-hip hop era of the late 60's and early 70's; Lloyd Price talking firsthand about the creation of Rock and Roll and Don King setting up the Rumble in the Jungle; D-Nice giving the backstory to Scott La Rock's murder for the first time. I love all of that shyt. I'll take that over some jokes any day...

Like which ones? I would love to listen to more podcasts with interviews on the level of the ones I mentioned (forgot to mention the Ice-T episode which was also a classic).

I actually think you got it backwards, those old Dallas Penn episodes sounded just like Juan Epstein (which I don't listen to). fukkery is overrated, the shyt gets old very fast. I'm a big fan of Tax Season too, but his show gets weaker whenever he has a guest host.
That Ice-T interview was beyond classic. That shyt was legendary. It made Ice-T a person you would want to meet and chop it up with before you die.

:myman:

Thank you. I actually listen to Ice T's podcast too on the strength of that interview. The show has done that multiple times for me. Like I gained so much more respect for Uncle Luke after hearing his story. They could make movies out of some of these episodes....

When he's talking outside of the realm of hiphop or early hip hop era NY he's really good I agree. I just don't want to hear this nikka interviewing damn Ty Dolla $ign
