Blast Tier Doubles to 105 Mbps and Extreme Tier Increases to 150 Mbps; Northeast Customers from Maine to Virginia Receive Faster Speeds at No Additional Cost

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Comcast today announced it has increased the speeds of two of its Xfinity Internet tiers in the Northeast, at no additional cost to customers. The increase marks the 13th time in the past 12 years that Comcast has increased its speeds.

“There is a barrage of devices coming online every day and we are staying ahead of demand through faster speeds and best-in-class wireless gateways,” said Marcien Jenckes, Executive Vice President of Consumer Services for Comcast Cable. “We’re making it easier for families to get more value from the Internet, across more devices, and will continue to make our service a fast and reliable experience for customers.”

In the Northeast, the Xfinity Internet Blast tier now offers speeds of up to 105 Mbps (formerly 50 Mbps), and the Xfinity Extreme 105 tier offers speeds up to 150 Mbps (formerly 105 Mbps). This is the second time in two years that Comcast has doubled its Blast tier.

The new speed tiers will be available to customers in the vast majority of Comcast’s Northeast Division, which includes 14 Northeastern states from Maine through Virginia and the District of Columbia. To get access, most customers will just re-start their modems. Some customers may need to upgrade their modems to receive the increased speeds. A list of approved modems can be found online. Customers who lease modems from Comcast will be upgraded at no additional charge.

Most Xfinity Internet customers enjoy complementary access to Xfinity WiFi hotspots by selecting “xfinitywifi” from the list of available networks on their laptops or mobile devices and entering their Comcast ID or email and password. Hotspots can be found by either downloading the Xfinity WiFi App, available on iOS and Android devices, or visiting the hotspot finder map on www.xfinity.com/wifi.

In addition, Comcast helps keep its Xfinity Internet customers secure online for no additional fee with the Constant Guard security suite (a $360 value), which includes the top-rated Norton™ Security Suite (antivirus software), identity theft protection and protection for mobile banking and shopping.

Quick question while we're talking internet.

I pay $50/month for Clear (big in the A) to give me internet access on my network. It's just a modem/router that lights up. If I bought my own would I still have to pay the monthly fee?

Im tryna cut monthly costs and I can buy my own modem router if that's all im payin for :stopitslime:

You would have to pay for the service but not the monthly modem fee. Get a GATEWAY

Brehs' what's good modem/router modding and getting like over 100 mbps down when you're only paying for 20 though?

Somebody on my Facebook friends list posted a screenshot of his Comcast speeds and I was like...

:whoo:

Breh was getting 126mbps down and over 70 up

Only paying for 20mbps

:wow:
