fukk comcast. I truly hate them. I thought I could get Verizon fios, but nah. I'm stuck with these fukkers.

They will throttle the fukk out of you and monitor your activities.

One of the worst companies in America. It's a constant battle with them.

:pacspit:
true. I work for em, just got out of my work van lol

Thanks but I'm looking for a combination modem-router to avoid paying Comcast fees.

You get better performance from a separate router and modem. The only reason to ever get a combo one is if budget it a problem. They all perform worse.

Oh really. I just want to make sure everything is compatible. What do you recommend? How much you selling your router for?

I have an Arris/Motorola SB6151. There is a model above that, but this one will do everything you need. The router I'm selling is the same as the one I use, a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900. Great Wifi, and you can load 3rd party software on it if you want to get fancy. They retail for 199, but I would let mine go for 160 shipped.

That is refurbished, as in it broke, and someone returned it and they "fixed it", and are reselling it. I personally don't rock with refurbished electronics unless the warranty is crazy:manny:. Mine is in the box, factory sealed, full warranty.

That article looks legit. That's the modem I have, typed the wrong number. I'm on Comcast, that modem is the truth. Way more stable and faster. Get that no matter what router you go with:banderas:

Refurbished doesn't neccesarily mean that it broke. Some people just return shyt and it can't be sold as new. Either way tho, I'm with you. I don't rock with refurbed electronics.

OAN-I didn't even think to get my own router. I'll be doing that soon too.

Yeah I'm definitely getting the 6141. I already ordered it. I think I'm going with this router: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-cheap-router/

Did you guys get the comcast self-install kit ($10) or did you have a tech come out ($40)? I've been reading around and it seems there have been problems with the kit and folks ending having to call a tech anyway.

No kit or tech needed. Just hook it up and call to have them register the MAC address.

When I goto Comcast.com to set up the service, it doesn't have an option to not select. I have to select one or the other.
