Comcast's super fast Internet costs $300 a month

As promised, Comcast (CCV) is starting to offer the fastest Internet in the nation -- for a jaw-dropping $300 per month.

That doesn't include an installation fee of around $500, plus another $500 for "activation." Then there's an added cost for "equipment, taxes and fees." Oh, and don't forget the punitive fee if you break your two-year contract.

hat means Comcast's next-generation Gigabit Pro, delivering data at 2 Gigabits per second, could cost $1,300 just to start.

That's 200 times faster than most current high-speed Internet networks. It's twice as fast as Google Fiber, which is slowly expanding across the country, but Google (GOOGL, Tech30) offers its über fast Internet for $70 a month. You only pay the $300 construction fee if you cancel.

You could theoretically download an entire music album in three seconds and a feature-length movie in 19 seconds with Comcast Gigabit Pro. You can send data just as quickly.

Still, despite it being a cable service provider, Comcast Gigabit Pro doesn't include TV service. And this super high-speed Internet is "limited... to a single outlet." So, you better have good WiFi.

The new service is available in Atlanta, Chicago, and select major cities across California, Florida, Indiana, Michigan and Tennessee.

I just switched my isp too. I was paying $170 a month for 250mb/s with a 600GB cap. Dat fukking cap is the worsts especially if u stream a lot.

Now I only pay $70 for unlimited but I only have a 25mb/s speed :mjcry:

Houston to LA like I'm Robert Horry.
Comcast is trash. If they ever brought Google Fiber to Houston I'd switch to that instantly. We've reached that point where speed is all pretty much relative unless you're actively downloading pirates. I care much more about reliability which they have been shyt at :camby:

What type of modem do you have, and is it supported by Comcast? I bought a new modem last summer which seemed to fix my problems. This summer I'm constantly disconnecting every few days. Called up Comcast and they said they don't support the modem I have, thus they can't send refresh signals.
:francis:

also told me they can "rent" a modem to me for $10/mo :mjlol:

I got a year or two in my contract. I guess I'll cop a new modem but I shouldn't have to smh. Probably could get outta the contract but football season is coming up and I don't want any cable/internet fukkery during that time.

i bet that shyt is still capped too :shaq2:
Been uncapped over here since forever. :blessed: But 2 Gb/s!? That is insane; imagine downloading a 10GB file in less than a minute.:wow: Hopefully, speeds like this will become standard, and therefore cheaper, in the near feature.

I have a specific setup in my house so I have two modems. One is the one from Comcast the other(my brothers) is a motorola surfboard Sb6121 I think. We wanted two separate IP's since my brother uses his connection to earn money online for some shyt he doing but I'm getting ready to cancel that shyt. Comcast tech came out to my house twice to fix this shyt but apparently now they're saying the wires near my housee need replacing because the signal is weak. My shyt was degraded man. I can't even watch streams online lately without constant buffering whereas before it was smooth as silk. I was paying $89.99 for 25Mbps down but now when I called them they upgraded it to 125Mbps down with basic cable for $84.99. I didn't even pick up the box but it still is slow and has connection issues mainly ping related.

I just hit up Verizon and fios is in my area now so I just got Verizon's Fios 100/100Mbps connection for $70.00 after tax no contract.
