good luck on the startup. I have a couple im working on as well. I'm not understanding the correlation between the startup and the nexus though... is the startup specific to the nexus? or...?

Nexus 5 runs the original unflavored Android OS, that doesn't have a dearth of proprietary software, if you're going to develop on any phone then the Nexus line of phones that Google releases are the ones to use. Also, I never saw a need for a smartphone before, I only got it because I want to develop apps. I'm proficient in Java, but have never really looked into Android development. So for me, purchasing the smartphone was an investment. On it's own merits, the device does not hold my interest, but I recognize it does for other people, hence my decision to create apps for the Android platform.
