Significant and classic are two different things.
I like the Neptunes. How many classic songs do they really have though?
Tons, especially if we're including songs outside of hip hop.

I Just Wanna Love Ya (True Classic)
Shake Ya Ass
I'm A Slave 4 U (True Classic)
Milkshake
Excuse Me Miss (True Classic)
Beautiful
Drop It Like Its Hot (True Classic)
Frontin'
etc.

lol @ bul that said "sleep's disciple".

some of yall posting some good songs/beats tho.

homie posted fab's "this is my party". I hated it at first, cant lie. but then I heard it on a good system and realized how fab merked that beat. and the beat is hot. its tailor-made to be heard on a good system. anything less than that wont translate.

They're pop producers and under that lens, they have an extensive catalogue of classics. shyt like In Search Of, Hell Hath No Fury and the stuff with Kelis are more than acceptable being labeled classic, if you look past just rap. Who else laced rappers with better radio friendly, poppy crossover singles then the Neptunes?

the neptunes themselves circa 2001 were on record admitting that they were selling trashy beats even tho they were selling like hot cakes. and 2001 was like their biggest year.

they didn't start getting hot til around '02.

98-01, most of their stuff was trash. and I was 13-17 when I couldn't stand them. I wouldn't consider that old ears.

fat joe yip yapping at the beginning trying to make it sound epic makes it hilarious

that beat was cool, but not great like people made it seem.

also, that song came off as a forced summer banger.
