You know how black women tell everyone they're strong and independent? Well some of those women have daughters and they raise them to be the same way. When they show any sign of weakness they are admonished. You're thinking about it from the lense of a male child. Where my gf's father was okay with her showing vulnerability her mother would yell at her for it.
