I think Comey asked for more money to investigate, they ran to the white house and said he gotta go.

Say you had a job and you fukked up bad. You're an IT guy and you deleted the entire server and backups by accident and the company lost all their data.

How would it look if your employer didn't say much about it at the time then about 7 months later walked you into the office and fired you over it? Better yet they don't even walk you in the office you get a letter handed to you while you're there doing your job.

If there was any issue with what happened Trump's administration is brand new several months ago. During the transition of power you sit Comey down and say look I'm gonna need you to resign and if you don't I'll be removing you effectively immediately. You don't let that man get several months into the new administration and announce to congress he's investigating you for being possibly affiliated with a foreign government that tampered with out elections then fire him.

I'm not claiming to be a mind reader but it seems apparent that Trump knew what Comey did and wasn't gonna fire him for it. Something else happened and that became the excuse for the firing.
