Worst thing you can do with a champ is roll him out every Raw for a nothing match or water-treading promo IMHO. Brock's the only wrestler they've got outside of Taker where EVERY match is essential viewing, because he doesn't wrestle that many. Ramps the whole mystique up and means you don't have to bury the entire roster every single week to keep him looking strong.
AJ Styles- David vs Goliath. Styles would bump like a madman for Brock
Big E- Irresistible force vs Immovable object
Nakamura- They can mention Shinsuke's mma history and toughness, wrestling with broken orbital bones, busted nose,etc. Also wrestling Brock in Japan, later training with him etc

You could make the argument that Hogan was a part time champ seeing as he defended the title maybe 3-4 times a year at best, and never wrestled on weekly television.
A title match used to mean something.
