2002 was the last year the East Coast ran shyt, and it was the end of an era when Nas dropped "God's Son" in December 2002, the intro "Get Down" he said that the South where the hustlers were at, he was telling legit prophecy. 6 months later, the South blew up and the influence was there ever since. But at the same time, the quality of music and album making, went down the drain.

NY was still firmly on top in 2005 :gucci:

South takeover was 2006

8 balls Lost album is the GOAT double CD and is a certified classic. Its Better than Life After Death and All Eyez On Me (coming from a Pac fan).

The only thing good that came from the South is Crucial Conflict, the old 36 mafia, goodie mob, and Cunninglyngists. The rest of the region is hot garbage and is one of the main reason rap is shytty now a days.

Outlawz are wack and were only liked cuz of Pac. If Pac wasnt in a song with them, the track was getting skipped. The whole 2pac and Outlawz album was mediocre at best. A few good songs but the rest were skippable due to the Outlawz.

Bone Thugs were dope as a group but when they try to go solo, shyt was depressing. They have 3 classic albums together but not a solo album is worth mentioning from them.

I don't think this is a sin. Bone members' solo albums are pretty wack.

People only sat down to listen to Guru because of Premo. His bars were laughably mediocre :unimpressed:

Same for CL Smooth. :unimpressed:

Pusha T was right to go solo. Malice brought him down.

Outside of Renee, Lost Boyz were genuinely terrible.

That song still a timeless classic :ohlawd:

But u right, that single made me buy their album and look for them later and its safe to say they were literally ass CHEEKS :lolbron:

Gucci Mane's influence made rap into an industry where tricks, feminine sounding dudes, and Simps thrived. All that IG tricking and glorifying hoes and mumbling and autotune, got the green light from him.

Soulja boy did not kill hip hop. There was garbage ass music prior to him, while he had the spotlight on him, and after the spotlight fade. Ice T was being a hating mf choosing to beef with a young breh making party music.:hhh: fukk you old head

1. Tupac got what he deserved :manny: ... blaming biggie for quad when u know henchmen was behind it, letting Suge and crew punk mopreme while u was in the studio as well and u jumped Sam sneed because he had east coast dudes in a video and finally u go out and get a MOB tat and then sucker punched Orlando and walk off like u was this super thug...

2. Atlanta rap went trash after 2006

3. never got the hype about future.. dude is garbage

4. It’s laughable looking how a lot of 1990s New York rappers switch they style to be more gangster rappers like RUN DMC, MC LYTE, how LL went from I need love and I’m bad to 14 shots to the dome:mjlol: and others

5. Lil Wayne and Drake neither has a whole classic album u would remember on some Chronic, All eyes on me or illmatic status

Which is ironic considering that Pac the same nikka who turned around and brought Outlawz, a bunch of Jersey nikkas, onto the music video and feature of Hit Em Up all because of their lil jealous beef with Biggie and Bad Boy :mjlol: I always wonder where they bamma asses are at now after all that.

South Side Chicago to Nola
I mean those two literally had the same career trajectory.

- both got put on by icons
- both were known for being "The Dope Dealer" and their street affiliations
- both were not known for their bars as much as how they said them
- both benefitted from striking when their particular locale/city started to blow up

Mmmm nah

Mack 10 is actually street, and that’s why cube put him on to give himself street cred WC also

jeezy used to be at strip clubs passing his mixtapes out in a suit, Mech fukked with him and invested money to clean it up

that nikka jeezy out of Macon his first ever video this nikka talking about being country

then one day woke the trapper of the year

I’ll give jeezy his props he figured a way to be an entertainer, and make hits

i don’t think Mack was too concerned because he had one foot in the rap game the other in the dope game, plus news of him putting the beats to T-boz didn’t help his career

In a parallel universe where nobody in Wu-Tang ever met/knew each other, the only ones who might've made it solo
are Deck, Meth, Cappa and maybe All In Together Now as a group.

Ghost is my favorite in the Clan, but iono if he woulda made it mainstream without RZA beats and outshining everbody else on tracks.

i think ghost had too many bars to not to make it some how

You think Westside Gunn better than Benny? Seriously? No trolling.

exactly
