Just the fact that 4 of his albums can challenge for number 1 is proof as to why com is one of the GOATS. and in my personal top 3(Nas, ghost, com). If this new Pete rock Collab is as great as he says. And he drops another 4.5. I might just have to put him above ghost. Commons catalog is insane.

The production being a step up doesn't make him carried by it, even slightly.
For me he took a step back lyrically, I listen to those albums more for the production. The first two I remember the bars off top. I have the same issue with Blueprint, I feel Jay was coasting lyrically and the beats took center stage. Still all great albums but that's how I see it.

Jay was coasting on Blueprint. I don't feel that's the case for Common on LFWC or Be. His content changed.

I forgot how dope “one day” was.. might have to run that back and I use to play Lwfc which is classic without a doubt but I have to give “be” the edge because I played it more..

In hindsight might have to put common in my top 10

I’ve grown to like the Macy Grey one more. I’m surprised both versions of the album aren’t up on streaming.
I can’t get into it… At least give me an option to play both. I have to find D’Angelo‘s version on YouTube because I can’t find my CD.

A Common greatest hits album, with songs and features would be a 10 out of 10. And it would have more of his guest features than songs. Super talented rapper,

I'm not sure that he released a classic album, though

I thought “BE”, “Like Water…”, and “Resurrection” were pretty much universally accepted as classics. I know “BE” was celebrated, heavily, immediately.

I always argue on behalf of “One day it will all make sense” and “Finding Forever” too. “Electric Circus” is a personal classic even though I know it isn’t appreciated much.
