one day is my favorite. Common is my favorite artist... The liner notes of one day and story behind it connected with me and made it personal.

From him having his daughter to her having almost the same birthday as my daughter... is became personal to me...

it's my personal favorite too. i can acknowledge that it's not his best album, but i've always thought it clears everything except Be and LWFC. including resurrection.

stolen moments is what seals it for me. the way they sequenced the songs to mirror his emotional state... :ohhh:.

the last thing he said on pt 2 is "maybe i should give it a rest." so then you get "1, 2 Many...", which is him trying to let the shyt go (and why the tone of the song is upbeat). but by the end of the song he's like fukk that and ends up circling back to the crime one more time for pt. 3.

it doesn't sound like much now. but this was the album cut era. so he basically used every tool he had to create a visual for three songs that would never get a video.

That album sounds so much better to me now than it did when it dropped for some reason..

Same here and I liked it in real time

I listen to daily more than any other Common now

And LWFC and ODIAMS were favorites of mine too

I still like some songs on those albums but more than ever when i go back and listen to his music now, it’s Electric Circus

Above the fray.
I thought “BE”, “Like Water…”, and “Resurrection” were pretty much universally accepted as classics. I know “BE” was celebrated, heavily, immediately.

I always argue on behalf of “One day it will all make sense” and “Finding Forever” too. “Electric Circus” is a personal classic even though I know it isn’t appreciated much.
On the basis of the remix to Resurrection, his features around that era, and his lyrical feud with Ice Cube, I had big respect for Common and high expectations.
Ive seen glimpses of that potential every now and then, but don't think he put it together.

He has one of the greatest catalogs in rap history. Not sure what more you can expect. If anything he greatly exceeded expectations. And had more longevity than most.

Was listening to LWFC the other day. Ranks in my top ten favorite albums of all time. Top of his catalog to me. I don’t know if Be would be in my top 3. Have to revisit it.
