Greenhornet
A God Among Kings
I think it was an amazing record but I think maybe skits or a more cohesive tracklist would have made it completely classic
Not my favorite Com album, but it was a great one.
Just curious OP were you already a fan when the album dropped or listening to it in retrospect?
I think BE was extra potent for people who saw Com go through that Soulquarian phase, I didn't hate Electric Circus but I was almost ready to write Com off after it. Then when he dropped The Corner and later this album we were

Common is one of those rappers that nikkas put Common in that "legend" category for unknown reasons. But truth be told, Common has never been that good of a rapper...nikkas gonna neg me, but some of Common shyt is borderline trash.
nikkas probably never even heard "Be" and gonna be in here like " BE is a CLASSIC!!!REAL HIPHOP!!!
"
NeggedI haven't been listening to hip hop for that long to be honest. I didn't hear it when it dropped. I am a Common fan tho. Ressurection one of my personal favorites.
At least in my opinion.
The problem isn't with Common's lyrics or flow, I think he's pretty well in those areas. However, when we're concerning about his beats on this project alone, we gotta agree it's fukking trash. The best beats on this were "Love Is.." and "It's your world"... I was getting sick of Kanye's sampling and it just made the hooks pretty atrocious.
It's not a bad album by any means, just not that good.
Jesus ChristBe was common best album
1. Be
2. One Day it’ll all make sense
3. Resurrection
4. Water for chocolate
Invocation, real nikka quotes, hungryYou real for mentioning One Day, Invocation one of my favorite rap intros of all time![]()
How Com not a legendI like Common. Definitely not a legend and not "top 5" as some of his hypebeast fans claim him to be.
Can I borrow a dollar isif we're being objective this is a far cry from can i borrow a dollar and resurrection but it fits right in with all his other records since he started wearing ponchos
