I think he's talking about Ross, but he could very well be talking about Kanye. I know that the 50/Kanye was staged to sell records, but still... Kanye beating 50 Cent left a lasting impact.

The thought of 50 ending careers at this juncture

Exposures. Even street rappers like Jada and Snoop was scared of Fif after the Ross incident. Most gangsta rappers have always been lying, one way or another. Ask Plies :mjpls:

Add the fact that Fif was the last east coast rapper to blow up internationally without a southern backing on top of the beefing that undermined a lot of careers, and the likes of the gangsta rapper can never have massive success again.

dog, the industry purposely phased out most of the street dudes.

nobody was scared of 50 cent. lol.

and if exposals were that big a deal, then dr dre wouldve faded into oblivion 20 years ago, as it doesnt get any worse than his exposal. hell you mention the ross incident but he only got bigger afterwards. like immediately afterwards.

The industry got tired of the streets when its business model was no longer profitable from exploiting inner city life. KRS and others talked about this years before it happened, but people were obsessed with the latest fukkery from street rappers and listening to their mixtapes and they ignored him. Like I said, most of gangsta rap is fraud nature with few "real" dudes that actually done any kind of crime, like you said, DR. Dre. Besides, the exposal made people realize that most rappers are faking their lifestyle on some extent, and can't single out Ross for that shyt, so they played his music instead.

nah. to the contrary, the industry got tired of dealing with real street dudes. they wanted less beanie siegals and more guys that werent really on it like that, but had just enough of a legit background. pretty much the rick ross types.

i remember when dude posted this on sohh about 10 or so years ago and he was on point. people always remember that thread where the dude was exposing all these industry scandals & stories but nobody seems to remember the poster that im talking about. and it went down just like that.

not to mention that the industry has it own agendas, like what we see going on now.

Besides, you want those real street dudes fukking up people's album budgets and getting locked up regularly as regular business deals? That shyt was harmful in long term business, and even when the rap game crept towards the i-Pod age, it reached caricature status. One way or the other, it was bound to self destruct. You expect the same dudes in 2002 to still dominate in 2014 with the stagnant mental paradigms?

Nah, its the truth. Imagine the rap game dominated by 40+ year old dudes outside of Jigga that still act like it is the early 00s? That would suck.
