fair enough.
I mean,; both nas and kdot's debut albums were praised as instant classics, we'll see if drake's albums will be considered as classics 3 years later,

Kane/Rakim to Jay/Nas made sense to me. I can see Kendrick and Nas. Drake is nothing like Jay to me. I would compare Drake to Lauryn Hill actually. That's the closest you can get - truthfully, there has never been anyone like Drake. You could make an argument that Drake is diluting and potentially killing the art form by incorporating so much singing. Is this what hip-hop is going to sound like in 10 years?

And here is where the complex writer shows his true ignorance. Here is where the complex writer shows how much of closed minded individual he his. Kendrick (and Nas to a lower extent) have shown to have shine on bangers. Who had the anchor and most memorable verse on "Problems" a radio banger? Yep Kendrick. Went to the club the other weak and chicks was singing his verse word for word.
lol yeah everyone literally shouts 'girl i know you want this dikk!" kendrick can still appeal to radio with his verses if he feels like it

So much for Drake and Cole being this genertion's Nas and Jay, wasnt they saying that a couple of years back

And a few before that it was like Lupe and Wayne?

Basically whoever is the lyrical and commercial cat having major success gets this tag every 5-10 years it seems

The only similarities of Jay and Drake is that they react and respond to everything said about them.

They know what's hot.

I told somebody on this sight the same thing, and she said that Cole is the Nas of this generation.. I had to laugh..

AND, I think people are missing the point. The article isn't implying that Drake and Kendrick are the same caliber as Nas and Jay technically, but when it comes to the figureheads of the New School and the voices to reach masses, Drake and Kendrick are that..........

The comparison is only legit if it's in regard to Drake and Kendrick being leaders of their generation. Artistically, Drake and Kendrick couldn't be further from Jay and Nas respectively. That's not in regard to skill, but more so style. Both Drake and Kendrick are closer to Andre 3000 than Jay and Nas stylistically. Drake's more in the style of Andre 3000 not only because of him shifting between rapping and singing, but also his ability to insert his perspective on his different relationships into his music. Kendrick is like 3Stacks in regard to his storytelling, flow, and delivery.

When I first heard it at the club and saw a lot of chicks singing Kendricks verse word for word. on "Hallie berry, hallelujah" I litterally went like...

Although those are some valid points, you're jumping the gun with this comparison. Give them a decade in the industry and then we can see how those two measure up to Nas and Jay-Z. Plus, Nas and Jay-Z had a legit rivalry that fueled their successes.
