You thinkin different breh. Parties like those back in the day wasnt about going to get hoes. It was just about having a good time with your people. My people partied like that back in the day and it was the best times. This shyt today. As if having a constant state of fear and surveillance was going to make the goods better. These young men went in and out of prison and as a result of having to adapt to the prison life, the communities became worse when they got out.
Now, of course the LAPD didn't really give a fukk...I'm more saddened that black local politicians and community leaders didn't see through the harm of constant incarceration.
They should have put 100% of their fight into getting the gov't to improve the schools and the local organizations.
Young black men who joined these gangs...they were looking for family and belonging.
Imagine being 15 and you go to the grocer and he looks at you like you are about to steal.
Then you walk home and the patrolling police officers are ice grilling you like, "give us a fukking reason, punk..."
And then you go to school and most teachers are looking at you like a lost cause.
Then you go home and the family home is so broken that home feels like hell.
You desire to be apart of a family that shows you respect and gives you the opportunity to earn respect... Gang life offered them that.
It's really hard to judge. I feel for my people who went off a positive path.
