confession: I dont know what "break yourself" means

Im 33, and grew up on a lot of west coast hip hop. "Break yourself" was a common phrase, but im not quite sure I understood its meaning.

Does it mean for you to make yourself broke by giving the robber guy all of your possessions on your person????

While we're on the subject when I was a youngin I used to think that when people would say "you tripping" in conversation that they meant they were actually tripping/falling down and I'd be confused because I didn't witness any act of physical tripping

It means give me your shyt. Broke/Break you off/break yourself, see the connection? Not always used in robbery situations. It also can be used to describe a ho giving a pimp her money to join his stable.
