Its dissapointing mainstream rappers don't really attempt to have a message in they music anymore........labels and they feel like its basicaly a waste of a single if it has no chance of being a ringtone......but the game might be more diverse, but the dudes who have a message ain't very talented at what they do imo to the point where I hear they songs and say "the masses would love to or need to hear this:ohhh:"....nuthin really that dope comes to mind, when it comes to the "ignorant" music" what can I say,I like that shyt too and the cats I like who do it are talented for that particular lane.

Is this supposed to be new information to anyone? :what:

The funny thing is nearly every business from the Entertainment Business to Healthcare to Food to Church all have things that go on behind closed doors that wouldn't exactly get the average persons approval...

I'm just sayin'... people are worried about lyrics being dumbed down when they need to be worried about what McDonald's meat is actually made of... :mjpls:

:obama: Im ridin wit this...

the people who have a "message" just happen to come off very preachy or emo to be honest.

the reason people listen to music most of the time is to be entertained. make an entertaining song and then put your message in it but make it fit the song without ruining the vibe of the song. Most hip hop songs with "messages" are intellectual masterbation from smart-dumb nikkas. That's why people prefer the "ignorant" stuff cause if anything there's nothing pretentious about it. it feels realer on a visceral level a lot of times. But if "non-ignorant" rappers could find a way to reach that zone in their soul where the realness is and make songs about non-ignorant topics but with the same realness, they could also be successful. Pac did it. Kast did it. Kanye did it to some extent in his own way. Kendrick is doing it to some extent, who knows if he'll be very successful but the music still comes off better than a lot of these so called conscious rappers. and other rappers did it too.

Howcome Plies - 100 Years and RichBoy's Let's get This paper (which could both be considered conscious) is more heartfelt than 99% of "conscious" songs eventhough they both come from "ignorant" rappers?

it's time to realize maybe some of your champions simply have no soul even if they rap about the state of hip hop and the community or whatever.

44 bricks...acre shaker

Nah, it's white dudes like him ( and Peter Rosenberg) who want hip hop to be one way, cause they don't fit in the world that it's currently in.

it's not 1982 anymore...dudes like him are so far removed from what hip hop currently is, they can't really fit in anymore

at least he realizes that the culture itself has passed him.

exactly why the fukk he aint quit when it was 20 versions of the whoop there it is..when tag team n 69 boys had the world confused..

when luke was with his naked hoes...biggie layed up with is albino bytches...nikkas snatchin bikini tops in dr dre videos..

he shoulda gave up then...the shyt he cryin bout now..been in the game..he jus needed somebody to blame for his failure..

Good read. Here we are at war, losing our homes, jobs are scarce, murder rate rising etc. and all we get from the game is go to the club, pop pills and chase strippers over the same damn trap beat. Theses devils want to keep us high on mollies and drinking ciroc while they lock us all up and kill us. Hip Hop is in a very delusional state right now.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
at the end of the day, you can't knock an artist for giving what the PEOPLE want to hear. If you don't subscribe to it fine, by to say it disgusts you is stupid. music is music. people are trying to earn a living. if the market wasn't there, 2 chains and cheif keef wouldn't exist.

At the end of the day i think most people just want their favorite songs on radio or tv, thats it tbh, good music is made every year, i'd say its more underground but hey dont wait for the radio to tell you what a hit is.

I guess I'm talking about what's being played radio and television.

Why should I or anyone else care about that? TV and Radio are dying mediums that hold nowhere near the sway they did even 5 years ago.
