Sucks for him, but what a conservative view.

I'd personally much rather hear rap music about sex and money than some of the smart dumb pseudo-religious homophobic shyt this guy probably idolizes. Not to say that there wasn't great rap in the 80's, 90's and early 00's. I'm a huge rap fan and own music from pretty much every era, but I'm not blinded by nostalgia about what it was and what it is. If anything, Hip-Hop is much more diverse now.

Is this supposed to be new information to anyone? :what:

The funny thing is nearly every business from the Entertainment Business to Healthcare to Food to Church all have things that go on behind closed doors that wouldn't exactly get the average persons approval...

I'm just sayin'... people are worried about lyrics being dumbed down when they need to be worried about what McDonald's meat is actually made of... :mjpls:

Well... can't you be worried about both. :wtb:

And there it is. :manny:

Its actually become less diverse when you think about it.

How? I can see how you might see that if you look at a label like YMCMB that attempts to take on pretty much every trend ever but look at the current crop of acts that are buzzing at the moment and you'll see how diverse their sounds are.

Kendrick
ASAP
Danny Brown
OFWGKTA
Raider Klan
Pro Era
Action Bronson

None of these dudes sound even remotely alike with the possible exception of Asap and Raider, but even then Raider Klan are much more lo-fi and Rocky has made a different sound for himself with the album. And it's not like they're the only rappers around. Lots of older artists like Nas are still around making their own style of music. Dudes like Curren$y stay in a unique chilled out lane. International acts like M.I.A. take Hip-Hop and combine it with pretty much everything.

I think it's a great time to be a fan of music. No matter how much shyt I might not like, it's pretty easy to find something I do. shyt, I was browsing shyt on Bandcamp the other day and I found some kid called Haleek Maul who makes some of the craziest shyt I've heard in a little while.

:myman: It's a good time breh. Truly the based god has blessed us

I guess I'm talking about what's being played radio and television.

that's some real shyt.

This is what people find insightful these days? :smh:

Anyway, the "keep it real" cats don't buy records so labels are going to cater to the paying customer.

But I think artists are making music without having to cater to the labels, because they will make a mixtape or indie release so they can do shows.

This is a win-win, so I can't complain. I think we took back control of our culture, as long as we promote artists who are genuine about their art.

there’s a Clear Channel, Viacom, Emmis Communications and Radio One made up of powerful decision makers who would never in a million years listen to the kind of music they get rich promoting.

if this doesn't strike a chord.......

Dudes sounds like an elitist crybaby. Why does music today have to cater to his taste. Then the rappers he names aren't all garbage. They have fanbases, they have people they appeal too. Those people shouldn't like Trinidad James because this guy says so :rudy:

Times change.

Props to him for teaching kids, but couldn't he be teaching them about so more important stuff than hip-hop

We are all being used for a profit sumtimes u gotta put yo dignity to the side to play the game n once you get in the door and field you choose to change da game kr complain and leave the game. I hate how ppl complain bout da same shyt 247 but yet dont do shyt to change da problem. Dise white dude is,mad cus preppy backpack isnt in demand anymore this a new era where we smoke weed pop pillz syrup sex ball party club 247 get use to it change da game o stfu
