He’s trying to create a million Black businesses by 2030 and you’re dismissing him over “caping” for illegal aliens. :pachaha:

What will you have done for the Black community by 2030? :jbhmm:

We already know your affliction, just get to the part of your cycle where you post some edgy try-hard mess and get bushed again :unimpressed:
It's not particularly edgy or new. The dude in the Tiktok video just needed to phrase it for more precisely.

I recall the historian John henrick Clarke giving a similar speech in the '90s. I think it's still on YouTube. This guy used the example of an Ethiopian, but in Clark's original speech he used the example of a Jamaican.

It's been years since I've seen the original clip, but I believe Clark used a Jamaican from the late 1800s who arrived in one of those North Atlantic states. The Jamaican in Clark's story noticed an opening for one of the mostly white professional jobs (sorry I don't remember which one but it could have been law, or engineering, etc) being posted in a black area. Clarke raised this story to show that local FBA/ados did not even attempt to apply for the position because they believe the odds were low that they would get it despite seeing the exact posting as the Jamaican despite being equally qualified. But because the Jamaican had seen his own people holding the exact same position en masse in black Jamaica, he applied and ended up being the first black person in his county to hold that profession.

When the TikTok guy went on to describe "esteem", it gave me an instant flashback to Clarke's speech.

Again, I apologize because It's been a long time since I watched that video. John Henrik Clarke gave an actual name for this guy since he was a historical figure but I don't remember it at the moment

Hmmmm

I think a big mistake all of us make...and I say this as a 7th generation Texan and probably 10th/11th/12th generation American......

We assume that OUR identity is unique but other diasporans are the same.

Caribbeans have parallels with Africa
FBA have parallels with Africa

Caribbeans have unique cultural identifiers and traits

FBA have unique cultural identifiers and traits

Obviously west and central Africa is the starting point for us and THEY have lots of unique identifiers and traits that didn't make it across the water.

End of the day, we have Black skin and end up fighting the same fight once we hit American shores.

Now self esteem versus confidence? I disagree because they did a study not too long ago that stated Black American women have higher self esteem than any other group of women. I think if you control for socioeconomic factors.....Black American/Caribbean/African folks have similar levels of confidence AND self esteem. Seen it in school. Mensah, St. James and Jefferson only show differences when the $$$$ and education are different IMO.

I like John hope bryant but i disagree with this take. Carribean folks are full of problems and so are Africans. Many point to Nigerians as the ideal… but those are the cream of the crop. Most of their ppl are not outliers or overachievers
