They even just announced they worked with im to restructure his contract. Essentially they said, we want you to be our starting quarterback, but they don't want to be stuck with his contract if he gets hurt" They took an injury clause out his contract, which benefits both parties and allows them to name Colin Kaepernick the starter with no repercussions. This allows them to cut kaepernick at the end of the season if he gets seriously injured or if he doesn't play well, while not taking a huge cap hit. Kaepernick gets ALL his money or EVEN MORE, and will be the starter the rest of this season. A win win
