Yea...that let's me know where Barack's head is at seriously. I know he couldn't say black people deserve reparations without backlash...but he at least somewhat supports the idea towards some sort of restitution for black Americans.Obama doesn't support reparations. He never did. He said so during the 08 elections and as president.

I've said this as well....let's ignore the black Americans that fend for themselves, take care of themselves and their families, work and invest, pay rent or mortgages...let's focus on that segment of black America who would just not be able to help themselves and honestly have no clue how to function without white people. They need the most help.
Also @bdizzle said it in another thread...I think some reparations money needs to go towards mental health for black people to undo the damage that the legacy of slavery and systemic racism has laid upon black people's collective psyche. As well...Some of that money should go towards defense.
Why defense? Because white people's undying hatred of blacks would not end with reparations. Believe me thee...There are gonna be some angry as white people who are gonna want to inflict harm on black people for gettjng what they believe to be "free money". Look at rosewood, tulsa, black wall street, they gonna get jealous and try to start hurting people. So black America needs it's own armory.
" It's one of the reasons why I view church as propaganda because that's exactly where I got that shyt from (despite the game my pops tried to put me on).
Lets address the question. are we talking about afro latinos born and raised in the US? if so, then YES. If not then NO. they cant get paid by the US. they should get paid by those whites in their current countries, and if they have to reach back to places in europe(spain). yes spain should pay their debt.
First things first. lets stop talking about who can and cant get the money. Lets get the pot together first. cause every time this comes up. people get caught up in who gets it and who doesnt, then the pot is never setup to begin with. There were so called natives trying to get money from the native american money and free stuff they get. Some people trick the system, some are legit and some get caught trying to trick the system. thats a way of life in these scenarios. but just because those negative things will occur doesnt make it right to not do anything for black people at all. thats bad logic.
This!how's about this. They dont have 40 acres and a mule to give us. lets say they had the mule. Where would these 40 acres sit? would it all be in some crap area? Can a brotha like myself that lives in So. Cal get my 40 acres by the beach... ya know PRIME REAL ESTATE. probably not. And the truth is, they can only give us crap areas for the most part since there are so many more people now in america then there were when they made that promise.
I'm not trying to uproot anyone from their current place of residence(white, black, or other). I'm owed that. but i'm not even going to do you like that. But what i will do is ask for you to first and foremost CUT THE CHECK. Then we can talk about free healthcare and free college/tech schools/private schools from k-12(if someone so well chooses).
The reason why its not far fetched to ask for a CHECK is because groups of people have already had Checks cut on their behalf. Shoot we're still cutting Israel Checks. and the US didnt even do anything bad to the Jews. How's about dem apples?
The natives got a check cut and land. The japanese got a check cut . So why not black folks?
And to add. When do you hear a majority of black people complaining about cutting checks for the japanese, the jews, the natives, and everytime the US goes to war and ends up giving billions to countries they messed up(iraq, Afghanistan, etc. Black tax dollars go towards all of these checks. you dont on average here blacks crying about it. yet when its blacks turn to get paid their DUE. here come the cry babies. You dont find that strange and unfair?
I have to rep you once I'm off 30s...amazing post!IMO as a afro Latino my self (Dominican) i think ONLY AFRICAN AMERICANS, should get it , be it money, free education or land , if your family didn't not suffer directly from NORTHER AMERICAN SLAVERY and it cant be proven that you are MULTI GENERATIONAL African american (by census records, SS records, birth certs marriage certs etc) you don't get to reap the benefits of north american reparations.
I personally don't believe we will ever see reparations in this country and here is why: The denial of slavery here ,the African holocaust is treated in this country almost as a children story , anyone who studied in a american school knows what i mean, you probably no more about Jewish holocaust and its horrors than you do about the African one . If reparations were to ever happen it would be and admittance by the american government that they took part in one of the most horrific profitable mass genocides of modern times.
Then the other big elephant in the room, the economic boost it could give millions , and yea some are gonna buy benzs, jordans and blow it away on strippers, but that's not who am talking bout, and am not talking about those AA who are already wealthy (another grey area, do they deserve it) nooo am talking about the millions of lower middle class AA who will all of sudden get a push into upper middle america, those who don't hear about the news who work there butts off everyday , who study there asses off to be the whole person of color in XYX company, those who everyday do the right thing. Those people my friend, the voiceless, the powerless will all of sudden have a big say in what happens in this country, they are they reason you will not see reparations here.
I will admit, I haven't invested too much time or money into black literature. I've really become knowledgeable aware about people like Dr. Claude Anderson, Dr. Umar Johnson, etc...from here but best believe I will take some time to get into their works. I just started from the Autobiography or Malcolm X when I was in college and took advantage to read into the writings of prolific black minds. How many people in here have Claude Anderson, Marcus Garvey and Amos Wilson's books?

I will admit as well, I am one of many black people that talk but aren't putting in the proper action I would like to...mainly due to my own lack of funds to really put towards it. But that has changed over the years.

does that mean afro Latinos get reparations too?
This.
Being African/West Indian and FFirst gen american I don't have a horse in this race...but seriously without some major financial restitution for the crime of slavery...I don't see black America thriving or surviving in the future.
People talk about group economics...but it will only happen with an established foundation for it. Right now the black community is an unfinished house.
