IMO as a afro Latino my self (Dominican) i think ONLY AFRICAN AMERICANS, should get it , be it money, free education or land , if your family didn't not suffer directly from NORTHER AMERICAN SLAVERY and it cant be proven that you are MULTI GENERATIONAL African american (by census records, SS records, birth certs marriage certs etc) you don't get to reap the benefits of north american reparations.

I personally don't believe we will ever see reparations in this country and here is why: The denial of slavery here ,the African holocaust is treated in this country almost as a children story , anyone who studied in a american school knows what i mean, you probably no more about Jewish holocaust and its horrors than you do about the African one . If reparations were to ever happen it would be and admittance by the american government that they took part in one of the most horrific profitable mass genocides of modern times.

Then the other big elephant in the room, the economic boost it could give millions , and yea some are gonna buy benzs, jordans and blow it away on strippers, but that's not who am talking bout, and am not talking about those AA who are already wealthy (another grey area, do they deserve it) nooo am talking about the millions of lower middle class AA who will all of sudden get a push into upper middle america, those who don't hear about the news who work there butts off everyday , who study there asses off to be the whole person of color in XYX company, those who everyday do the right thing. Those people my friend, the voiceless, the powerless will all of sudden have a big say in what happens in this country, they are they reason you will not see reparations here.

Man collectively we already have the money to do whatever we want in this country, and sadly nobody is talking about that aspect of it. Right now you got white marketers and researchers trying to see how we spend our money (I've found research papers from both Google and Nielsen researching how we spend our money). You got white media outlets creating websites like theroot and thegrio so they can have a voice in black thought so they can market black products by white corporations to us because getting 97% of our money isn't enough, they want 100%.

Group economics isn't just about black people starting businesses. That's just one part of it. It's about us SPENDING our money with each other as well. We already have black insurance companies, black mutual funds, and black mortgage companies, but how many of us have our money in these institutions?

It's like we keep looking 100 years in the future and forget about the shyt we can do right now to immediately change our condition.

This brother needs to teach freshman seminar at Morehouse:whoo::lawd::salute:
What if all 50 million of us black folk packed our shyt, and left for the motherland. We'd leave this country in shambles.

I remembered this post you made and thought about this speech Dr. Greg Carr (professor at Howard University) gave after the Darren Wilson grand jury decision:

In the speech he talks about the role of the students at Howard (starts at 11 minute):
  • It's their responsibility to go to Geneva to argue at the international courts about the oppression of black people
  • It's the responsibility of those in law school to work with people like Ben Crump to get charges filed against the Darren Wilson's
  • It's the responsibility of those in IT to create databases of every victim of violence who was black for the last 300 years
  • It's the responsibility of those in fine arts to create a different kind of art and music
  • It's the responsibility of those in Engineering to create cameras that can't be seen to make sure every black person can record the police without having to even pull out a camera

The only thing an afro latino is an African that was captured by the Portuguese/Spanish vs the British.

Anderson Silva is an Afro-Latino:

anderson-silva.jpeg

The only that separates us is his ancestors got dropped off in Brazil, my ancestors got dropped off in Jamaica, and your ancestors got dropped off in the US. None of us are from these places as we're all essentially kidnapped West Africans.

Not to turn it into that type of thread but the slavery in south america / Caribbean but was different than it was here in America its due to various factors, the places they got sent to, the crops etc, but the #1 factor is the number; out of the tens of millions of slaves that got sent in transatlantic slave trade 70% went to south america/ the caribe and only 30 % came to America, so i mean proportionally someone could argue that Africans in south american/caribe have been by sheer numbers affected worse than A.A by slavery but like i said , that's a whole separate discussion to be had.

I got the philosophies and opinions of marcus garvey and powernomics. Don't have any books by amos wilson though, if you recommend some I'd appreciate it.

Blueprint for Black Power in my opinion is required for any serious man or woman serious about Group economics and Nationalism. And since I know you're a Garveyite, you would love his book on Marcus Garvey and what it means to be a true Black Nationalist . As for Claude Anderson, Black Labor, White wealth is another gives you the foundation of knowing how racial economics is played in positions of power and how other groups are currently playing the game.

And when you can, can you please respond to this post?

No problem man, thanks for your honesty. It's one of the most refreshing things on this site. Well, I had the idea of putting together a coli fund to invest money into getting those books into the hands of brothas/sistas who are either planning on working for the community or are already putting in work for the community to have these as guides and references as they navigate the levels of community building.

IMO, works from these three authors really gives you a solid philosophical foundation as well as a clear and precise agenda to take to your community and put into action. All three authors really gave me viable solutions that I and people in my circle were able to use right away. It's not the end all be all of course, but it's a step in the right direction and I feel would cut down on the many disagreements I see brothas and sistas have.

When I posted about Afro Latinos, it wasn't to talk who got it worse, who got shipped to where, or who should receive reparations from the US, it was to refute the notion that somehow "afro latinos" are different the afro americans or afro caribbeans. We ultimately are all victims of the same system of oppression, our ancestors were just kidnapped by different enslavers.

Thanks. Black Labor White Wealth is on my read list, but I'll cop the other books by Amos Wilson.

As to the post about the coli fund, I'd advise strongly against it. The one thing I've come to realize is that the number of dudes on here who actually want to advance our cause and end our oppression is incredibly small. I'd say less than 10 people. There's a lot of white people pretending to be black and A LOT of black people who's goal is to cause confusion and dissension. They're not going to do anything and they have 0 intention of ever doing anything. They're just here to be contrarian.

If you seriously wanted to do something like that on here, I'd say you'd have to have some ground rules.

1. Make it a private group where it's invite only
2. Require regularl meeting where your required to show up on camera so we know who you are and what you look like
3. Show proof of identification (drivers license for example) so you KNOW who you're dealing with.

Online, people can pretend to be anything, and some people have an agenda to make sure fukkery happens and they'll destroy any and everything positive.

But if you can get something positive going, you already know you can count me in, as long as whatever books we buy comes from a black owned store (@2Quik4UHoes says he works at one but of course we'd have to verify it).

I see. The only problem on my end is trying to mobilize the people who would be down on here because I'm not a well known poster and I feel someone would take it seriously if it was you or @2Quik4UHoes at the forefront of it. When I bought copies of Amos Wilson's book years ago, it was through his publishing company and I actually chopped it up with the guy who runs the publishing company. The Brotha was very knowledgeable and helpful. But I have no problem buying from @2Quik4UHoes bookstore.

If you don't mind, I could send you some excerpts from Amos Wilson's book to give you a glimpse of what's in it if you'd like.
