watch Gangs of New York if you don't believe me.

How about read a history book?
Or at least Google/wiki black and Irish relations in the US.
Daniel Day-Lewis' character was based on a dude who died a decade before the riots, wasn't from five points, and hadn't killed anyone.
The gang battle that killed Di Caprio's dad in the movie straight up
never occurred.
And most importantly that "Draft" Riot at the end didn't destroy the buildings of 5 points, but it did destroy at least 120 black lives.
And the majority of the perpetrators were...Irish.
They burned down a black
orphanage. Lynched men in sadistic spasms of public violence. Black families were thrown out because landlords feared rioters destroying their property. Any white business, employer, businessman that dealt with black people was violently attacked. Black homes and businesses were looted and destroyed. Hundreds of black people
permanently fled the city.
The Union Army had to redirect troops from fighting The Civil War to get these mostly Irish criminals under control.
