Examples????.......True.
In boxing you could have a 30-0 record beating up on a bunch of scrubs.
That's not happening in MMA.

I thought for sure it was seeing the homey die the ring, but I believe now it could be the money thing too. Have to wait and see.
Holy shyt, just saw that the guy who killed Carvalho in the ring was Charlie "The Hospital" Ward.
The issue is that there's too many facets to the game. The best striker isn't necessarily going to be the best ground-and-pound isn't going to be the best at submissions. There are too many different variables, and someone who is dominant in several aspects of the game can still be caught out by someone whose style fits into their weakness.
Serena is incredible, but she gets caught all the time. Tiger was the greatest golfer ever at his peak, but he still won no more than half his matches even in his prime. It's only the extremely simple sports, like running or swimming or boxing, where you literally expect the same guys to win every single time. (And even then, the best runners/swimmers in the world don't win every race, because THEY don't get to dodge opponents who aren't good for them.)
Yet, that dodging. The way MMA is controlled so much from up top, the best fighters in a weight class usually fight each other. In boxing each fighter has a lot more power, so they can dodge losses a lot more. That's why Floyd doesn't fight Manny until he's 36, didn't take Cotto when Cotto was at his prime, and why he ducked Winky Wright. If Floyd kept getting matched up against the best fighter available, he was going to take a loss sooner or later.
And that's in a sport where you can ONLY use your hands that are covered in gloves, ONLY fight standing up, can ONLY hit above the waist, and have judges that are...um...suspect at best. In a sport where you can use hands, elbows, feet, knees, hit, grab, throw, tackle, fight from your feet or your knees or your back or the fence, choke someone out or dislocate their elbow or knock them unconscious...there's going to be a hell of a lot more variability.
Yep.
Did you just say boxing was extremely simple?Did you just say boxing was extremely simple?

And Floyd was kept away from both Cotto and manny because of Bob Arum. Fights happen late all the time, they werent the first or the last. And them fighting so lte is the reason both Cotto and manny got career high pay days
I absolutely 100% believe this was over money....Conor demanded 10 mill, Dana refused politely, Conor said fukk it...I'm done.
Dana is cheap as fukk....his fighters are criminally underpaid. Conor wasn't going to get that much because it'll break down the door for more fighters to feel bold to demand what they want.
I walk up in Def Jam like I'm the shyt/Tell em give me 50 mill or i'ma quit - Kanye WestI'm glad a fighter has finally stood up to the top brass, they have been criminally underpaid for years.
Boxers are independent contractors in its essence so it's way more complicated to make fights. It's pay, PPVs, venues, ring size, type of gloves, who name goes first on the marquee, etc. Unless someone is willing to go and bend over to get fukked, it's not an easy process. Prizefighting is not pride fighting. It's about cashing out. You said FM waited until Pacquiao got older like he didn't.Relatively speaking.
No sport is "simple" in that respect. But the range of allowed actions and the range of possible outcomes is a lot lower in boxing than it is in some other sports.
Oh, I ain't blaming Floyd for that. He's my favorite fighter of this era, and to the degree that he's picked his fights, its been smart for him to have handled his career and his money the way he has. But that doesn't change the fact that whether you give the credit to him or to Arum or to anyone else, he, like most top boxers, didn't face the top challengers at every opportunity he could have. In most sports, you have to eventually face the best every year or you're simply not on top anymore.
