Everybody did at the time. Especially after the "What They Do" video. Its been cleared up since before Big died though but I guess everybody didn't get the memo.

I never understood this mix up. Flava in ya ear came out in 94. At the time The Roots were complete nobodies, they hadn't even released "Do You Want More" yet, so why would Biggie mention them in his verse? Plus "invisible bully like The Roots" doesn't even make sense

I was a small kid so I wouldn’t know. But were the Roots, with an indie album only sold on their tour (in Europe), more known than Different Strokes in 94? :dahell:
