This isn't just a conservative thing. Black people have been leaving Cali in droves since the late 90s. This was back when the government wasn't as liberal. The problem with California is it is too damn expensive, not as many jobs to pay for it (Silicon Valley is a very small part of the labor force), huge wealth inequality, and a demographic trend that isn't empowering Whites or Blacks (immigration of Hispanics and Asians). I give the old school Black areas like Oakland, Richmond, Compton, and Inglewood 10-20 years max before they are done and Blacks will just be sprinkled around. Given Cali has the highest national swirl marriage rate for Blacks as well (between 20-30% for both sexes), I don't really see a cohesive Black community in most parts of California going into the 21st century. They aren't going to disappear, just be about their own business and scrambling to get by.

Well, I don't see the national appeal we have. Philly, Pitt, or Lehigh Valley is about all I can recommend and they aren't exactly stellar growth areas for Black people.
