Why is a game with a black protagonist even considered “controversial”? What? are game protagonists only supposed to be white males?
I stopped gaming a while ago but i have a friend (black) who's deep into gaming and not a c00n. What he tells me is that he just wants dope stories and dope gameplay regardless. He tells me the problem is nowadays is that whenever they insert black protagonists, they always try to mix it with some sort of lgbtq or feminist messaging. So they either make the character gay, or they insert their they them dialogues or whatever and do not focus on the actual story. It's like they are counting on the controversy to make the game sell and the messaging seems forced. So in a way, these types of game are still playing to the bigots, just from the opposite side. He says to just make a dope game and fukk what these racists think.
I haven't played games in a while, but if what he's saying is true, it makes sense i guess. I always kinda end up telling him fukk what people are saying, try the game for yourself, if it's good, cool, if not, don't support and go about your day. No need to spend energy debating people.
