Console hardware sales are in a really bad place right now

there's literally going to be a mass exodus of ps4 gamers next year when they're finally forced to join current gen for GTA 6

Most will get a PC or whatever handheld that can run it.

This. Next year I'm sure will be massive with GTA 6 alone. GTA is literally a system seller. I'd bet money that a lot of streamers, especially someone like Kai Cenat and others will influence a lot of gamers who are still on PS4/XB1 to upgrade to PS5 to join in on the fun lol. I don't believe in this zero sum game framing with discussions about consoles/PCs.

Yeah they're much too doom and gloom. The gaming business is doing very well despite all the pessimistic viewpoints. But once GTA6 drops all of these folks will jump ship which is what Sony and M$ are anticipating. It's always weird seeing PC gamers trying their best to get console gamers to switch to their side lol

Minecraft and Roblox don't require expensive computers to play and they aren't on Steam, Steam numbers going up is not indicative of more people buying expensive PCs/parts. It's literally free to create a Steam account and log in on a toaster.

Steam and PC gaming gaining more popularity doesn't mean people don't want PS5s and Switches. Xbox's severe lagging shouldn't be lumped in with PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. It'd be like saying PC gaming is dying because less people are buying games there and not mentioning that the store they're referencing is the Microsoft store lol. Xbox is in a bad place, not Playstation or Switch.

As much as they try to. Consoles will always be the driver of the market. People aren't trying to spend their time in the Bios of their PC tweaking settings to play a video correctly. It will never beat the convenience of a console. You start the game and it just works

You underestimate the power of FOMO. If everyone is playing GTA6. Most people aren't going to wait 2-3 yrs for it to release on PC. They're going to get whatever can play it at the moment which will only be the PS5/XSX,

I'm lumping the handhelds and PC all together as one like everyone likes to do now with the rog Xbox ally.

But on that note, I also think there will be a decent amount of people who are just gonna get whatever the cheapest next generation system is.

it's honestly console doomer/PC gamer cope (I'd love to play it day one max settings high fps on my PC if that were an option but I'm also not gonna act delusional about how the exclusivity window is going to play out for PS5, and to a lesser extent, Series S/X)

If the entire console market is reliant on one game, then everybody else is fukked.

Sony/Microsoft don’t make money off console sales.

The challenge is getting people to play more than 1 or 2 games.
