Which is weird that they've been keeping him on TV.
This is 1 of the instances where I can agree with how Tony does. If you're gonna be letting go of talent, why keep them on TV in active storylines? WWE has been flying too close to the sun with that shyt. I remember last year when Gable was in the middle of a big storyline while it was being reported his contract was set to expire and he still hadn't signed a new deal. I said eventually that might come back to bite them
I can understand both ways of doing it.
Like look at how Ricochet exited WWE.
He knew he wasn’t going to re-sign. But they’ve pretty much worked right up until his contract expired. Just to put over Bron Breaker, which is fine. No sense in the departing talent going over, putting over one of the next big stars of the company is just good business if you’re going to be on TV until the end. It’s hard to get developing stars over if they don’t get to go over against established vets (see New Japan’s current problems, for example).
But imagine what someone else on the roster who was going to be around for a few more years could have gotten out of those minutes. Not necessarily with that exact same creative, just those minutes. Instead those minutes went to a guy that was largely unimportant for the vast majority of his time in that company. Even if you stick with the same creative, was there not another single guy in the company signed long term that could have done the same thing? There’s always exceptions, but being on tv is better than being off tv even if the goal is to just do a job.
Both rosters are loaded. TV time is hard to come across if you aren’t one of the top and/or favored talents. Should it be used on someone who doesn’t want to be there?
