The crazy thing is that releases these days involve people that were actually midcard/upper midcard status with title reigns or major angles under their belts.
Back in the old

deavors it would be jobbers or people long past their prime that has been languishing on the roster for years collecting checks.
I think that first "budget cuts" release under Vince McMahon where Bray Wyatt got released along with Stroman (he was still somebody at that point) was when people started to realize it truly could be anyone.
HHH taking over kind of eased those tensions...
.for a bit but then TKO bought the company with a GRACE PERIOD to see who could get over, after that it's been business as usual with a guy like fukking Baron Corbin being released. I'm sure the anxiety is up and the morale is down again.
You can be used regularly, in high level midcard stories/feuds, right up until you get fired. In the next round of cuts guys like Kross and DIY are going to be on the bubble along with Tonga Loa (if he comes back and fails to get over), Austin Theory, Grayson Waller, the Wyatt Sick (whatever they have coming up will be the LAST CHANCE for anything Wyatt related on WWE TV), those various non lucha Mexicans on the roster not named Mysterio etc etc. It could go back to the days before "talent hoarding" where the WWE had almost no real midcard to speak of.
