Do ya think they should contract the nba?
Keep a total of 16 teams
8 on each side
And 4 from each side make the playoffs

Players from remaining teams could fill out the teams that stayed
Like that every team would be strong and have a chance to win it all every year
I think it would make it more competitive and funner to watch

Ask the teams of the 50's and 60's not named the Celtics or Lakers what it was like to have a chance to win every season.

Though I feel the NBA, NHL, and MLB could cut two teams each, realistically there's no chance of it ever happening. I'm pretty sure that decision would have to be collectively bargained anyway between the owners and the players.

Also, teams would be sold and moved to another city before any league would ever seriously consider contraction.

I know . And with cycles next year Washington and Cleveland could be back in the playoffs or even Toronto . If we contracted Memphis them we wouldn't have them in the playoffs now

Yeah I think it's less about the shytty teams and more about the mediocre teams. Toronto will suck for 5 years, hit on a top 3 pick to turn their franchise around and eventually compete. Teams like the sixers will try to build through free agency and the draft but with limited FA talent and no superstars going in the 10-15 range of the draft, the sixers are fukked. If there was more talent to spread around, teams could fix themselves w/o completely tanking. It would only take 4 or so teams to contract to make this happen.

I realize this is logistically impossible b/c of money/ reputation so it will never happen but, honestly, it needs to.
