Anyone here who pays the contractor upfront 100% if begging to get their shyt taken or asking for a lousy job. What the chick did was correct. When I bought my house back in 11, we did an expensive bathroom remodel on the master and kids bathroom. We paid 33% upfront which should have covered materials and then paid another 33% when it was 90% done. Paid the rest as soon as we were satisfied with the completion.
No doubt. I’m in the same situation as you. I’ve had a contractor and his crew in my house I just bought for about 2 months and that’s the 33% method is the way they get down too. It’s super convenient and leaves no room for guessing because he doesn’t even ask for payment 2 and definitely not payment 3 without walking me through exactly what’s happening and getting me to sign off on it.

I’m probably paying many of times more than what her remodel costs since I’ve done kitchen, bathrooms, hardwood floors throughout and a bunch of other expensive stuff, but I would never enter into an agreement without those details being in writing and hammered out for even for the smallest of jobs.

This is why I avoid residential work, people do not be wanting to pay. Anytime someone asks me to do work on their house I always tell them I need 50% of the funds up front... usually they stop contacting me at that point. People aint shyt, it's why nobody wants to do residential anymore because of broads like her.
I mean sure. I do commercial work myself and resi side jobs only when I get paid up front. But I remember seeing the pictures of this when the story broke out months ago. Dude did a really shyt job and seemed upset for getting called out for it.

IF I remember correctly, back when this first happened she showed pics of his work and it was straight trash. It looked like some amateur shyt….

If this is the same situation I’m thinking of, I wouldn’t have paid his ass either :camby:

I do alot of bathroom remodels. And always ask around 30% down. Most goes for materials and demolition work. And also to pay some of the fellas for the 1st phase of work. I break it down to phases for the clients and expect to be paid for when the completion of said phase.
But yea that dude did a crappy job on the tile work. He didn't even use a waterproof membrane on the walls.
A small bathroom remodel will now run you about 6 to 8gs. That's just the labor work with some building materials. Add on the costs of tile, patterns, lighting, bathroom vanity, toilet and glass shower door. Easily around 12 to 15k for a nice bathroom.
Or a budget bathroom for about 5 to 7k. Curtain rod, particle board vanity and 99cent second surplus tile. Dont get mad if the grout lines are inconsistent. And no sealer.
