Japan, but from the 989
need to change the laws against felons some type of amnesty after 5 years so they can vote, work etc or what rehabilitation is there?

There is none. It's just another form of indentured servitude or slavery since he is unable to pursue what he went to school for. There is a CEMENT ceiling put up for anyone convicted for a felony in this country, even if you serve the time, and get "rehabilitated". You lose rights immediately and are basically a third class citizen. There needs to be a remedy for this.

He needs to parley that law degree into business. But clap for him..The article never really got into how he received his first felony. It talks about the possession of a firearm as a felon...but leaves it out. I guess it doesn't matter but the big point of this article is the bullshyt that our criminal justice system really is. He is a felon, even though he went to prison and served his time. What he did will never be forgiven. He went to law school and got his degree but he won't be able to use it. What is the point...even though he gained an education that is priceless in my opinion, if he is unable to use it...what the hell? More power to him though.

Some apartment complexes won't even rent to felons. Eternal punishment.

Here's more of his background:
Following high school in 1985, Meade pursued a military career in the army, which ended after he was caught stealing liquor while stationed in Hawaii. He returned to Miami, where he became a celebrity bodyguard — a job that exposed him to long nights, a fast crowd, and a hard life that resulted in several drug convictions in 1994. His criminal record also included several convictions of aggravated battery including one against a police officer.

Then in 1995, Meade’s mother died. Meade slipped into a deep depression and his drug habits increased, leading to more convictions. He moved into the home his mother had left him. He then became homeless after losing the house to foreclosure after he failed to make the mortgage payments. Meade then turned to a precarious life on the streets of Little Haiti.

The biggest blow came in 2001 when Meade was sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession of a firearm by a felon. But Meade served only three years after an appellate court remanded the case back to lower court which did not retry the case.

some racist shyt must have went down...and I bet its a combo of him not being allowed to get a gun permit because he was caught with drugs before but in reality he was an addict and not a distributor but he got punished for basically being an addict

and I can see why you wouldn't want to issue a permit to someone who has been addicted to drugs before so its probably a lot of grey area where there is no clear right and wrong and he just had a string of bad luck and I probably exaggerated my statements in my original post

I'm not calling you out, but the bolded is weird to me. I'm not a gun fan at all, but I do see their usefullness (not a word but, yes sometimes I do) I just don't get that argument though. Why carry something you DON'T intend to use?

I wouldn't carry an umbrella if it wasn't raining, a hammer if I wasn't planning on using it, or hell, even my cell phone. Why carry it (and risk prison time as a felon) if you were not intending to use it at all?

Nobody really ever wants to use their insurance policy... And the most you would ever want to use your gun for is at the shooting range or hunting if that's what your into but nobody wants to be in a life threatening situation if they don't have to be
