The sun and moon are about 3,000 miles high.

Now you're crossing into a territory where you have to explain how the sun works.
Is the sun a lot smaller in your universal view? Because being 3000 miles away from it is a huge problem when its 350,000 times more massive then the earth. Its net gravitational effect would eventually suck us in at that distance.
Then you have account for how in the world we'd be alive when the sun is producing energy from fusion that's equivalent to 1.0x10^10 hydrogen bombs per second. Our magnetosphere can't deal with that type of radiation.
