IMO they maybe realized that GOAT had so much hype around it, that it might be hard to meet.

So I think they're trying to genuinely make a solid album here, and if people say it doesn't live up to the hype, you can see that they're already setting the stage by saying "Reject 3 is dropping 1st quarter 2018 and that's where the real fire is."

The hype for GOAT got out of control, and Conway and WSG were comparing it to Illmatic. By saying "Hey we're just gonna go ahead and give it to you guys in 2 days" it sort of helps cut down on some of the hype they created, as well as gives them room to cut some songs off and say they're going to be on the next project.

Kind of a smart move. At this point of they put all their chips in on GOAT and it's not received as well as they hoped, then they backed themselves into a corner and lose some steam going into 2018.

I feel they already lose steam with this though. WSG, Conway, & Daringer have all been hyping this album from two years, and they probably used half of their gems on loosies and Con's mixtapes. Not gonna knock them too much cause GXFR has really killed the year, but still, was expecting GOAT to be next level based on the way they've talked about it.

Honestly at this point I would bet my next paycheck that they never have anything that drops officially on Shady.

I don't see it happening at this point.

If you don't use Shady to drop the most anticipated project for 2 years from your entire crew...what else would you use it for?



I don't know what the future of Shady/Griselda looks like, but if they're dropping GOAT like this, then for better or worse (maybe better honestly) I just don't see it happening.

There's only one way what you said doesn't happen...

If GOAT drops tomorrow and fukks everyone's heads up, and if it's on par or better than Reject 2, then everyone is gonna to shut the fukk up (including me).

We are told it's an album and not a mixtape, so if it's anything less than a solid 4 mics, I think they've got some problems in 2018 when it comes to growth and expansion.

And that may be fine with them also.

Based on the tracklist and how bare bones it is (only one producer basically and only 1 BIG name feature per track) I think this is their legit attempt at a real album even though there was a bunch of clearance issues and shyt. I feel like they threw the proidgy track on there just to honor him after his passing. Maybe they had another song recorded but due to sample reasons couldn't put it on this project. Basically I refuse to believe this is close to what the OG tracklist would have been. If they got it all cleared and had it set to go back when they first were talking about it then we would have had it already. I think this is their best attempt at delivering something that was impossible for them to deliver. I also get the feeling they went back redid a bunch of beats which is why DARINGER is on every track but 1. Didn't wanna spend crazy money redoing everything. I'm hyped regardless. Just pray it's mixed and mastered correctly. Conway + DARINGER+ alc + those features = can't miss Imo

I agree with your entire post but I do have one question regarding the bolded.

This this isn't dropping on Shady and Shady is totally unaffiliated with this release, then do the sample clearance issues really matter at this point?

Can't they basically drop whatever they want?
