LIstened yesterday and Imma listen later today but Imma keep it real....Conway ain’t that nice on the mic anymore and he lacks lyrical creativity...the beats can’t save him after a while. All in my opinion but imma listen again....talkin about mixtapes before albums but the lyrical content be the same as the mixtapes literally the same

Edit and im a little salty this nikka WSG talkin about retirement because when he wants to rap he raps his ass off

Listened again it's dope, Hawks, Tito's, Black Spoons are all dirty
but he said "Imma get my youngin" on this project and that's an automatic 5 point deduction
How many young bulls and youngins you got Conway:mjtf:

Amber Simone :ahh:

Definitely feel he's new shyt isn't as original as what he was putting out from 15-17.

I tend to compare everything to The Cow and a few other tracks and I don’t like how he be repeating himself...if he says he doesn’t write then he needs to write ..we will see on the next album because the first album was aiight

Benny just has it
West is unique and if you bypass his voice his lyrical ability is up there
Conway has too many hit and misses lyrically
Camino a baby WSG but he has some really good introspective tracks

Mach Homicide better than all of em:mjlit:

I’m gonna try to take away my bias and hopefully give a suitable answer as a beatmaking nerd. Al has had 4 main eras where his style had signature changes: 1998-2003. 2004-2010. 2011-2015. 2016-present. Obviously there is some overlap in periods and some rappers may pick beats that were made in older time periods, etc.

I could break down the key signatures of each era but there’s no point. Based on your list it seems like you mostly prefer Al’s 98-03 era style. Because I don’t think you named a joint more recent than 2002.

And I got friends in the game I respect that thought 1st Infantry in 2004 was a fall off for him. So I’m not knocking you whatsoever for your opinion. Taste is subjective.

I do think it’s interesting everything you named is 15+ years ago. Not to say you’re wrong but to say if that’s the case, then I’m surprised that you’d be talking about a fall off that I assume you think probably happened over a decade ago.

And those are classic joints. I love ‘em. But I’m not expecting him to make anything that sounds like that, given that he’s one of the rare beat makers that (for better or worse) never seems to stay in one zone for more than a few years.

Al is one of my favorite producers but I’ll give you this. I do think there are some beats (the occasional lazy loop) he makes now dats that are called dope because he did them, whereas if I did them I wouldn’t be getting nearly the same level of praise. But I’d also say this applies to 90% of established producers.
