Hilarious! OMG! :pachaha:

that's how i was so many times when i first heard a song, or i would just remember a few lines or some of the hook and then write it down lmao

man, to think of how far we've come from those days, of buying maxwell tapes to record songs on the radio is crazy when you really think about it.

When we taped off those shows, we never knew what the damn titles were. They were just playing unreleased sh*t back to back most nights and not saying anything. And then when they did, they didn't even know the titles either. So most times, we would have to just make up our own sh*t. LOL!!

I used to have about 7-8 tapes on me in my backpack on a given day, lol. I was basically bootlegging whatever I recorded off of college radio and then I would make my own mix on a "master" tape. And then sell it for $5 in school. LMAO!!

Thats that shyt Clue would do too, he'd even name it wrong on the tapes. I had a hell of a time finding Artifacts of Life By Rufus Black & The LOX when the tape just said Life shyt, and he said it was by "Daddy Black" :dame:

exactly! lol!

yeah, you had to have a tape ready to roll and, and be ready to flip the another side if time ran over! lol!

a brother would pop that tape out quick as lightening and flip it to the other side so you wouldn't miss whatever maybe about to play again.

but yeah, .you didn't know, there was no google, it was all word of mouth.

it's crazy to think of how much of struggle is use to be back then.

we've come along from them days

funny, i use to sell mix tapes too, and check this out,. i'd be trying to really like sequence my shyt perfect, like once i have a ton of songs and then switch them over to another tape

i'd have hip hop and r&b mixes

Still one of my favorite joints from the LOX. "Life Sh*t" is what I still call it because of Clue. I heard that first on a Dirty Harry tape though. He was calling it the same thing, lol.

Very first time I heard Nas "The World is Yours" was on Stretch, way before the album dropped. My tape was rolling and I was f*cking HYPE!! Little bit after the second verse, my joint stopped and ran out of ribbon on me. I died right there. I tried to flip it mad fast, but it wasn't gonna matter, lol. I needed that to play straight through.

No Google, no nothing. You had to just either come up with your own titles or know for sure because they pressed it, which wasn't always the case. There are certain joints from back then that I still don’t know the real titles to, lol. And apparently from all these different versions online, no one else does either.

I used to bootleg all the underground college radio shows because I knew they were playing stuff no one heard before or probably ever will. I would talk on the tapes and all that. Give a million shoutouts and act like I was cueing up the records. LMAO!!

100% facts

I use to hate it when that shyt would happen and then, back then, i didn't have the money like that to always be buying tapes, so if it was a tape I didn't want anymore, like an official album tape, I would put tape on that shyt and dub over it,. lmao

or you ran into the issue of your tape breaking on you and then you had to start all over, it was a pain in the ass with tapes back in the day

yup. you preaching to the choir about them titles tho. that shyt was a bytch not knowing the title or having to just remember a few lines or parts of the hook, lol

I was too shook to record over the tapes, so I would hit the dollar store for my blank tapes. They used to have the TDK and Maxell's in like a three pack for a couple bucks, lol.

When tapes popped, I was like a surgeon. I'm sure I forgot how to do it by now, but I knew how to piece the ribbon back together so that when you listened again, you would just hear a quick little click, but it would play smoothly again, lol. Those damn tapes were my life back then. I still have all of them in boxes.
