Police dogs are treated as officers and if you kill one that's the same as killing a officer IIRC which means life in prison/death penalty.

They're labeled as officers, but are treated more along the lines of equipment. Where I live, it's a 2–5k fine and/or up to 10 years in prison. No death penalty
