An intoxicated Leesville man has been accused of pointing a firearm at a deputy, authorities said.
Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft said Michael Wayne Trull, 34, was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated assault upon a peace officer with a firearm and disturbing the peace.
"We received complaints of a male armed with a baseball bat and a handgun walking on the roadway in the area of VFW Road," Craft said Friday in a news release. "Deputies were advised by witnesses that Trull had in fact fired a handgun in the direction of a moving vehicle."
Craft said Trull also pointed a firearm in the direction of a deputy.
"Deputies did issue verbal commands to Trull to put the weapon down and he did comply," Craft said. "We were able to take Trull into custody without further incident."
Trull is being held on a $100,000 bond.
