Who is going to commit to joining a progressive organization? It isn't enough to talk. Social change requires work even when there isn't a Story of the Week/Month in the news.

I can't stress the importance of organization enough.

Converse, Strategize, and Fellowship with anyone who is down.


But be a one man organization dedicated to self knowledge, self-protection, the protection of your family, and if you have the power, the protection of your communities.

Change happens locally.

When you start getting into organizations with missions different from your own, and too many indians trying to be the chief, you are going to run into problems. it's easier for them to get you all together in a group and take you out.

YOU ARE YOUR OWN LEADERS AND ORGANIZATIONS.

Take a page out of the so-called "Terrorist" book. BECOME A SPLINTER CELL. It's easier to attack a group than a bunch of individuals.

This here...we need leaders in our community to build a movement. Not holdovers from the civil rights era (Jesse, sharpton, etc), but late 20-40 something's. it's crazy how every other era had leaders - booker t, w.e.b, malcolm, mlk, huey, etc. but post 70's we haven't had shyt. The 80's were a huge destruction of our community, the split between the inner cities and the crack epidemic and the new black middle class (i.e. the huxtable syndrome) completely broke the little unity left. Ever since then it's been the same lets build talk and no action. The sentiment is there, but you do need someone to galvanize the movement to create action, I wonder if that person is out there (cuz it aint me lol)

Just got back from the protest at the Rockefeller Tree Lighting after work.

Really mixed group of people- and fortunately you could tell people werent just there for a twitter pic. People, and I mean all colors, were legit mad. Although I naturally had to visually vet any white person I met.



But-


I get home to eat a late dinner and turn on the news to see if shyt is still popping. I turn on CBS news and they happen to be interviewing people who were 'not happy' with the protest, who thought it took away from the Tree lighting . THE first person they interview is a brother and his visibly mixed kids:


Black Dad: We come to this event every year, I just dont understand why they had to demonstrate here

Half breed son: The tree lighting was OK, but the people yelling really ruined it for me.

Just when I thought I couldnt be more agitated

I agree with living your politics in your personal life. That is very important. I also agree that the people are their own leaders. But name a movement that succeeded from this "splinter cell" stuff...

And why aren't the 2 and 3 trains running tonight? Protesting folk were lying with bare skin and unhatted hair smack against the cold hard dirty floor of Grand Central station, AND THEY DID NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT MY LATE EVENING COMMUTE.

The problem is that we're minorities in a capitalistic system that needs an underclass, it's why our schools see far less funding than white schools, and prisons see so much money.

Another question; what African countries have been reaching out to us?
