I will argue that Kendrick is NOT surface level and has the lyrical and performative ability to get just as deep as Nas and Pac

I submit the following

Out of the big three, Kendrick has the most depth and that is definitely showcased in "How Much A Dollar Cost". I will say though, Kendrick is more so an artist that will carry a story throughout an album vs. him having singular songs that showcase powerful or compelling lyricism. He has depth, but I find most of his songs to be surface level, but his overall albums showcase something deeper specifically To Pimp A Butterfly. As an overall writer though, I don't hear the level of depth that one would find in even a Lupe Fiasco with the layers he has in his songs.
