Great album. Unfortunately, I don’t know if the kids who are in his target demo have the attention span to truly appreciate it. He’s literally competing against NBA Youngboy for the same fanbase.

As a 30 year old breh, I’ll be sure to stream this to support his effort in continuing the tradition of making this kind of hip-hop.

It’s a cool album but I can see how someone would say it’s boring

This here.

Even during the golden era, albums like this typically were seen as really dope, but still flew under the radar. It's tough to find the balance to push the art and be lyrical and fundamental, while still being able to appeal to the masses and get crazy buy-in from every kind of fan. Very few have been able to do that.

I have no idea where this narrative has come from.

J.Cole came out the gate with a number 1 platinum certified debut album that had two platinum singles
I don't look at numbers:yeshrug:
I just know it was jokes about him making snoozefest music
And then he got GOATED his second album

Every rapper has “jokes” that their critics and haters use against them. If anything having that type of criticism means you HAVE blown up because hate is part of being a viable mainstream figure.

J.Cole makes “sleepy time music”
Drake is soft
Kendrick has a looney tunes voice

These things will ALWAYS be used against these artists no matter what they accomplish. But those critics are in the minority

"Parables" came up on a playlist and I heard what you guys are talking about. Cordae definitely has a Cole influence going through him. At one point, he even quotes "Let Nas Down."

Em with the creative control once again

This one clip confirms for me that Eminem’s priorities are off.

Cordae was right. "Killer" doesn't even sound like a rappity rap track. That's why Eminem doing that on the remix didn't make sense, and even less sense on the original because for most of it, he wasn't even doing it. Cordae had the best verse, ironically. :russ:

The remix was bad with all that rappity rap shyt he’s been doing. Should’ve kept it to a minimum.

I like his music a few good tracks but for the most part there's nothing here that jumps out.

It feels like it's a good attempt at making a good album but lacks the soul of one:deadmanny:

First full project I’ve listened to from him. I enjoyed it. I got Cole/Kendrick vibes mixed with some early-mid 2000’s

It will be interesting to see if/how he grows musically/lyrically. I gotta add Cole don’t get enough light shed for his influence with a lot of these guys out now
