Coli capitalist checking in.

I’m glad the eviction moratorium got lifted. It was blocking a state contract I won.

I feel for the kids in these situations who don’t have any control over their parents spending/work habits.
Yeah you're a piece of shyt

This is partially inaccurate. The executive branch had the initial burden in their hand to extend the moratorium, but waited until the last minute to toss the ball to Congress.

Cori Bush couldn’t rally the entirety of Congress to pass a bill, and making a push for *something* is better than pretending like it isn’t happening at all.

The Executive Branch told them what to do the moment the Supreme Court said what they did. Defying what the Supreme Court said would essentially be the Executive Branch fukking their power future power and leverage with the Supreme Court.

They've had a month to rally the troops and come up with an extension as the Supreme Court literally said they would only do so with Congressional Authorization. If they couldn't rally the troops and do the one job they knew was urgently due, then they deserve the heat and criticism.

Especially since the Feds are already having to cover for Congress inept decision making in taking steps to prevent the bottom falling out while they enjoy their vacation until Mid-September.

People go in wide eyed "Yes we can:krs:!" to "Legally we can't:mjcry:".
As funny and fukked up as it is,I can't really fault these people. Running for office requires a bit of an ego,and many seem to go in thinking they are the chosen one whos about to turn politics on its head. Only to end up sheep and apart the status quo.
She ain't the only black person that needs to wake the hell up and stop participating in this nonsense.

I can believe that a lot of them initially come in with "Yes we can" :krs: expectations as they don't realize that politics is truly all a game and how you play it. The only way you're going to get where you want to go in politics is if you get your hands dirty. If you won't do it, then you're replacement will.

She's a congresswoman, no?

Yes, but it's hundreds of representatives. The eviction moratorium lapsing definitely isn't the freshman Congresswoman from Missouri's fault. Mufukkas in here more upset w her than Pelosi

Guilt by association. That's how it works in politics and those type of positions.

It's her fault bc House leadership didn't address it. Got it.

The Supreme Court never said anything - you're referring to a concurring opinion, not the main SCOTUS opinion.

And they cannot give advisory opinions, as in: there are no predictions for their future decisions.

For 7 weeks, and this bytchass nikka is mad that in the meantime shes doing a protest

It's cause the protest is an obvious attempt to clout chase. Like someone else said, everyone in Congress knew that the eviction was coming up, yet they wait til now to make noise about it.

If "The Squad" was bout it, they could've told Pelosi that they wasn't signing shyt in Congress til they handle the eviction deadline.

I don't know why this is so hard to understand

The courts flat out said that the only reason that they didn't lift the moratorium that Biden and the CDC placed was because the moratorium was going to expire on July 31st. The only way they wouldn't lift it again is if it came from Congressional Authorization.

So what do you think will happen if that moratorium issue shows up at their courts again by Biden/CDC and not from Congress? Don't forget that there's no guarantee that Congress would even come to an agreement to extend the moratorium even when they come back to work next month.

Yeah I 85% side with renters but as a business owner.... I completely understand the landlords position and I hate how they're being made out to be the bad guys.

I cant imagine being forced to give away my services for free for several months while I'm struggling to pay my bills just like everyone else.
