Did Democrats and Republicans not agree to the $600 stimulus just so they could all go home for the holidays?

That $2000 wasn’t going to happen if Trump didn’t try to screw over Mitch and threw Democrats a lifeline to save their election failures.

WTF are you talking about? The $2000 was being pushed by the Dems since May, they even pushed $2000 a MONTH. The only reason it didn't happen is because McConnell controlled the Senate and said over and over that it was a non-starter, and Trump never once insisted on it or tried to push it.

Then all the sudden AFTER the bill got passed, Trump started getting antsy about his election and made a last-ditch effort to bribe voters, but it was way too late cause McConnell and the Republicans weren't gonna budge for shyt. So only $600 was passed and the extra $1400 didn't come until Dems controlled the presidency, senate, and house.

Which is literally my point............

They literally caved into Republicans and agreed upon the 6th before they went home for the Holidays. There was no guarantee that they would have gained the same traction and leverage on the rest of the money had Trump not tried fukking over Mitch :comeon:

They weren't winning both of those GA seats without that incident and you're full of shyt if you insist otherwise. It doesn't matter what they championed for all those months as they initially conceded on the provision just so they could go home for the holidays.

Also, don't forget that after the November election, Democrats literally were on a conference call complaining with each other wondering what happened. Not to mention, Nancy and Mitch had other people throwing Progressives under the bus to save their own ass.

That Trump and Mitch fiasco literally rallied them together.

This needed to be adjudicated at a state level before the feds even got involved. Judges should have looked over these cases and made decisions about who can defer their rent and who can’t. Then you could setup direct payments to landlords.

A big part of what’s driving this eviction flood is that people received a lot of money over the last year or so and still didn’t pay any rent. I understand that you can’t expect the average person to put the stimulus and unemployment in escrow for an eventual rent payment, but that’s what the government seems to have expected.

They agreed to $600 because they were in the Senate minority. They literally didn't have the votes. When the fukk has McConnell ever caved to pressure while he had power in his hands? The $2000 wasn't coming from him under any circumstances.

You're right that if McConnell retained power then they likely never would have gotten us the money. And your point is....?

Cori Bush.:salute:

Silly paid agents, your tricks are for kids.
So people didn't learn from Obama even after he gave yall the game? You can't get shyt done without the people bringing energy and making politicians think not moving is a threat to their seat. Unless you have a lot of money of course.

I'm not upset her attempting to stir up energy among the people. No she doesn't have any real power

This is partially inaccurate. The executive branch had the initial burden in their hand to extend the moratorium, but waited until the last minute to toss the ball to Congress.

Cori Bush couldn’t rally the entirety of Congress to pass a bill, and making a push for *something* is better than pretending like it isn’t happening at all.

The coli =st0rmfr0nt
That obviously wouldn't work. There aren't many measures that "the Squad" would have made a difference on - and the few bills they would have been able to draw a line on were vital votes for other services and issues. They're getting demonized right now for pushing Pelosi and Schumer a little bit harder on the infrastructure bill, there is little chance that they would have been able to stop anything important without getting destroyed, nationwide.

Not only that, but you're pointing out that Congress was aware of the deadline - the administrative agencies, the federal courts, the executive branch, and all three branches on the state level(s) were also aware of the deadline, and each assumed that the other would pick up the slack. I'm not going to attack the few legitimately progressive Congresspeople for making a national point of protest when the failure is evenly spread along every branch of government in the nation.

There's also the point that no one in this thread seems to understand: the progressive wing already tried to get the moratorium extended - the moderate and conservative wing of the party explicitly opposed it, alongside the Republicans - because the Biden Administration purposely didn't make its position known until July 29th.
How Democrats Screwed Up So Royally on Evictions

Thanks y'all for not being dumbasses. The # of ridiculous false narratives and agent bullshyt in this thread was crazy.

fukk an individual finesse thst lowers the quality of life for everyone. Its time to work as a society to make things BETTER as a whole, so that finessing is not a means to an end.

If you're going to comment on my posts and what I've said, at least bother to read through and find the original comment where the conversation started and you would find my point is.......

Your original comment was the one where you lied and claimed that Trump was the first to bring up the $2000. So you're just deflecting from one ridiculous statement to a different one.
