Mega explained independent vs major better than anyone has. And it explains why so many older, comfortable rap artists stay on labels. It's comfortable. You get the 5 star hotels, you get a food budget, you can ride on a jet...all that shyt is a plus for many artists and understandably so. Not to mention getting love from radio, magazines, TV performances, etc. Independent you gotta do all that shyt yourself. You're getting 2-3 star hotels. You're using your man's van to travel state to state. You gotta book your regular ass flights. Radio and TV won't answer your calls.
But you can still do promo. You can get on Joe Budden's podcast if he likes you. You can get on Drink Champs. Lots of opportunities to get your shyt noticed, even if it takes longer.

Dope interview but I gotta say...I fux with Mega but so much of the interview was focused on grievances. Many of which he already addressed last time he was there. It's just such a weird character trait for someone who preaches mental elevation and moving past things. Granted, I get his point: he is constantly attacked and has to defend himself. But outside of the Stoute shyt, I'm not sure any of those grievances truly mattered (mentioned in the ep). The Nature thing...come on man. Breh was interrogating Nature (who moved to Marcy) while the man was making breakfast. Even the way he was holding the phone...it looked like he was strangling the poor breh lol. Bringing up old shyt about not posting a fukking EP on Instagram. Come on man.
I could be wrong but I don't even remember Mega doing much promoting of that thing himself. We all agreed Meek was wack for catching feelings over dumb shyt like that a few years ago with Drake, and I feel the same way here. Who cares. No one is obligated to promote your shyt.
Overall tho it was a dope ep and I'm glad Mega and Nas are cool. I hope we get a track with just those two on it.
