) and Rap Basquiat are so far the top 2.
Born & Raised is ok, but it took me a couple years to really get into it..the best songs on it had been out a good bit before it dropped too. this new record is fresh.Man I've been playing this since yesterday, great album.
Couldn't get into born and raised (or the testament for that matter, even with as much praise as it gets). This fits perfectly with the realness&the true meaning-vibe, lyrics and structure
MARS Remix (AZ with the beat switch) and Rap Basquiat are so far the top 2.
Been waiting for this since the Combat Jack interview, soo worth it![]()
Without getting into a stan war, I have an honest question: Why do Mega fans not consider The Testament to be the Illmatic of his career? It is a classic, with gems like
Dead Man Walking
One Love
Montana Diary
Killaz Theme
Angel Dust
All of those are top tier Mega tracks

Did Mega have a Combat Jack interview where he went into depth about this album?
He had an interview where he talked about the plans for the album and the MARS remix.

I sell drugs and bust my guns and I'm gonna tell you in a witty way."
you claim I don't come around no more, I'm at the house with my kids."
BUT ITS NOT BORING. It really does sound like you're listening to someone who was a wild young man and survived where his peers didnt and all his wisdom is weighted by conviction of the struggle he lived through.
If you can't relate to Valuable Lessons.... hell, you gotta be dead or something.
For real. this is like Grown Man Rap.
Even when guest stars are like "I sell drugs and bust my guns and I'm gonna tell you in a witty way."
Corey's like "you claim I don't come around no more, I'm at the house with my kids."

Because honestly, that's what you're listening to.
He was always a man, but it's like he grew up. A rare thing in this hip hop culture of ours, where your age seems to be based on how much money you've made.
Corey grew up.
It's a beautiful thing.![]()
