I just discovered YESTERDAY that on the 2nd verse of "if I ruled the world" Nas was on the bench spitting his rhymes sitting between Mobb Deep. Cormega comes up and daps the crew in a Fila Jacket. I've seen that video for 28 years and never knew that. I wasn't paying attention that much

Man, the love I have for this album is unmeasurable.

I wasn’t introduced to Nas until this album. Illmatic went under the radar for me I was in elementary school then. But when It Was Written dropped you heard it everywhere.

The production, Nas lyrics and musical content made this album feel like a blockbuster movie.
