She sounds like a fukking fool. Everybody knows that thesis defense is at LEAST business casual (think job interview). That goes for any day you're standing at the front giving a presentation. Yeah, the prof had a stick up her ass, but all she had to say was that she would dress better on the day of her defense. Does the article even mention what the student's thesis was about, or her major? No? Then the student failed miserably.
