It also depend on the efficacy the vaccines with higher efficacy vaccine reduce the chance of having symptoms. But the point is even weaker vaccines reduce the chance of dying.
Look at the scene in India right now and imagine that even vaccine with lower efficacy (50-60%) could have prevented many of those people from dying.
